Welcome to Journey, Bryce!

This summer, Journey welcomes counseling student, Bryce Powell. Below, she shares how God brought her to our counseling ministry.

A few years ago, God opened my eyes to how I can partner with Him inside the therapy room. As I reflect on my “why” for pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I believe that a healthy marriage can produce a healthy family. And often, individuals, children, and couples do not know how to or do not have a safe place to process situations and feelings that they experience. My “why” for becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist is that I desire to create a safe place for marriages and families, where God can heal, restore, and reconcile how He desires.

Therefore, I decided to intern with Journey Counseling Ministries because it is a counseling place that believes in the Bible, while also having counselors who are clinically trained. When I initially met with the counselors at Journey, I could sense and feel the comfort and love of God. I knew that if I could feel that, I could imagine how clients feel when they walk through Journey’s doors. I was excited to learn and walk with counselors who integrate spirituality and psychology; I immediately wanted to join and be a part of the work that God and the Journey counselors are doing for God’s people.

Paul simply reminds us that, “We are God’s fellow workers, His field, and His building” (1 Corinthians 3:9) to minister to people in hopes that they may have an encounter with God.
