Brooke Thrasher, MA, Resident in Counseling

I’m Brooke, and I am a resident counselor under clinical supervision with Journey Counseling Ministries. I am also a James Madison University alumna (go Dukes!), which is where my pursuit of counseling personally and professionally began. During my time at JMU, I witnessed many of my peers struggle with mental and emotional health related to the pressures of school, social life, and family life. At the time, I received help and guidance through counseling as I worked through similar issues my peers were facing, and I aspired to offer the same compassionate and clinical therapeutic services to others. Shortly after I graduated from JMU, I began to pursue my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Regent University, where I learned how to integrate psychology, theology, and spirituality to the counseling process. After I graduated from Regent in May, 2023, my husband and I moved back to Harrisonburg to live in the town we fell in love with (and where we fell in love at!) during our time in college.

I work with adolescents, college students, and individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, eating disorders, boundaries, grief/loss, and issues with their stage of life, interpersonal communication, and relationships. I am also Prepare-Enrich certified and work with couples for premarital and marital counseling on communication skills, conflict management, attachment, trust, and intimacy. No matter what season of life you may find yourself in, God does not intend for you to walk through your struggles alone. It’s my calling and privilege to walk alongside you, wherever you are in your journey, toward clarity, healing, hope, and wholistic well-being. If you’re interested in counseling, you may call me at 540.324.8323 or email me at brookethrasher.jcm@gmail.com.
