Throughout the Bible, verse after verse calls us to remember, dwell, or meditate on God’s word. In Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:1-2, the word “meditate” comes from the Hebrew root, “hagah,” which means to speak or to mutter; however, when this action is done within the heart, it is called musing or meditation because it evokes deep thought and affection.

Hebrew meditation, unlike Eastern meditations, has clear content and focus. We are not called to empty our minds, but to fill it with God’s words, God’s works, and God himself. Meditating on the Word of God day and night means preparing our hearts to be in constant state of muse, speech, thought, and response to God’s attributes and actions. But how can we meditate on Scripture day and night in a world where our attention is so sought after and divided?

Ally Padilla shares with us a resource that helps fill our minds with God’s thoughts even while we sleep. Abide is a Christian meditation mobile app that helps you start your day with powerful morning prayers, be refreshed with daily devotionals, and fall asleep to Bible verse meditations at night. All of the meditations are derived from Biblical scriptures and principles; they are available in lengths of 2, 5, 10, and 15 minutes so you can choose the perfect length to fit your schedule.

One of Ally’s favorite features is that you can search for meditations on a particular topic such as stress, anxiety, depression, or sleep, which enables us to bring God’s Word and comfort directly to our place of need. The Word of God wants to bring you peace and clarity about who you are, based upon Whose you are. We hope this resource encourages you to make God’s Word your first and last thought each day, so that the Word of Christ dwells in you richly (Colossians 3:16). You can download it here or in your phone’s app store.
